Digital health and fitness tracking has been such an integrated part of our lives (Fitbit, Apple Watch, etc.) that it’s easy to forget analogue tracking has not totally disappeared.
This hit me last week as I was asked to track planned episodes of triggers, responses, and thoughts as part of an OCD group therapeutic programme . It reminded me of old-school fitness tracking: recording the duration, exercises, and how you feel etc. But instead of workouts, I am tracking emotions and behaviours.
A Word document with a simple table was provided as the template - I cannot think of a worse way to get the job done! Recording on Word requires constant access to my laptop (especially when it comes to recording thoughts). And if I print then pen-and-paper the data, I will need to carry it with me at all times plus scan before sharing the data with the group.
Therefore, I’ve decided to turn this inconvenience into an opportunity to design a digital solution using a light version of Digital Thinking. Following me along, you will read about how I explore the problem space, ideate solutions, and create rapid wireframes and prototypes - all as a solo non-developer. So stay tuned!
